President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle share a laugh while awaiting the arrival of India’s Prime Minster Manmohan Singh for a state dinner at the White House on Tuesday.
Traditional evening gowns vied with saris of vibrant colours last night at the first state dinner of the Obama White House. Obama looked gorgeous in a strapless, gold and cream-coloured sheath dress with an overlay of silver and matching shawl. She owed her dazzling appearance to the Indian-born US-based designer Naeem Khan.
Michelle Obama’s fabulous gown was crafted at the designer’s family workshop in India, with 40 people working to create this fashion masterpiece that combined regal style with a traditional sari-dress.

Michelle Obama is pretty in red on the December 2009 issue of Glamour magazine. She was chosen as one of the Women Of The Year. And for sure this has been an amazing year. Michelle is mom to Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8, and wife to the President. She sat down with Katie Couric and dished about motherhood, her life, and role models. Here are the highlights:
On life as the First Lady: “We’ve had some just amazing experiences traveling abroad, being able to introduce our children to the world…. I’m also humbled by the response and the receptiveness, not just here in America, but around the world. There’s a part of that warmth and enthusiasm and hope that is surprising and humbling.”
On her girls’ “blessed” life: “They are very blessed…. That’s why I think that mentoring is such a critical part of the role I can play in this position. I see how little bits of exposure and big bits of exposure really change my girls significantly, and I want that for more girls around the country and the world.”
On wanting to improve kids’ health and nutrition: “When I talk about the issue, I’m really coming at it from pre-White House times, when I was a working mother with a busy husband, a very demanding job and two little kids to feed…. I had to learn what it means to feed and care for your kids in a country where fast food is abundant, where time is a rarity, where eating out is a trend, because families are so busy…. Yes, I’m First Lady, but I know the struggles.”
On her own role models growing up: “They were the people in my life. My mom, for sure. My dad. The teachers. For me, role-modeling was immediate, it was touchable. It was rare for me to idolize a movie star or a singer… because, truly, children connect with who is in their lives, present and accounted for. When I was little, I wanted to be a mother, because that’s who I saw. I saw my mom caring for me. I didn’t play doctor. I didn’t play lawyer. I didn’t have those visions until I was in college, meeting people who were doing those things. That’s why we’re trying to encourage moms, teachers, fathers, to be that presence in their children’s lives, in their communities, because it really makes a difference.”
On putting herself second: “I’ve always had my mom. I’ve always had a supportive husband. So, now, with all the support around me as First Lady, I feel like this is easier than when I was back in Chicago. I have always tried to put my kids first, and then…put myself a really close second, as opposed to fifth or seventh. One thing that I’ve learned from male role models is that they don’t hesitate to invest in themselves, with the view that, if I’m healthy and happy, I’m going to be a better support to my spouse and children. And I’ve found that to be the case: Once my kids were settled, the next thing I did was take care of my own health and sanity. And made sure that I was exercising and felt good about myself. I’d bring that energy to everything else that I did, the career, relationship, on and on and on.”
On her relationship advice: “Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? That’s the advice I would give to women: Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul. Look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn’t know. And, more important, how does he treat you? When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good. You should never feel less than. You should never doubt yourself. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole. And if you’re in that relationship and you’re dating, then my advice is, don’t get married.”

Italian charmer Silvio Berlusconi introduced to ‘bella donna’ Michelle Obama. And this time he speaks about Michelle skin color.
Berlusconi told a Milan rally of supporters yesterday he brought greetings from the United States from "What’s his name? Some tanned guy. Ah, Barack Obama!"
Shortly after Obama’s election in November 2008, Berlusconi raised eyebrows by saying Obama was "young, handsome, and even has a good tan."

This time, Berlusconi, a perpetually tanned billionaire who began his career as a cruise ship entertainer, also took a jab at the first lady.
"You won’t believe it," he said, "but (the) two of them went to the beach because the wife is also tanned."
European media have played up photos showing Michelle Obama greeting many leaders at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh summit last week with a kiss but stiffly holding out her arm for a handshake when it came time to greet Berlusconi.
The photos show Berlusconi’s gazing at Mrs. Obama’s gown, instead of her face, and holding his arms out as if in delight at what he sees, while the U.S. president looks on, apparently not amused.
Berlusconi, 72, has made no secret for his yen for attractive women. He has been on the defensive in a sex scandal that erupted last spring after his wife complained he was infatuated with young women and announced she is divorcing him.
The premier, commenting on Obama’s use of a teleprompter in public speeches, also cracked: "He’s not reckless like those of us who say what comes to mind."

Madonna trains for two hours a day, six days a week.
The ‘Material Girl’ singer - famed for her sculptured body - works hard with personal trainer Tracy Anderson to maintain her physique but is careful she doesn’t look too muscular.
Tracytold the New York Post newspaper: "We train for two hours six days a week. We do 45 minutes of dance aerobics, followed by work on muscle tone, flexibility and definition.
"There’s no running and no weights bigger than three pounds, because Madonna doesn’t want to bulk up."
Although Madonna has drawn criticism for her toned arms in recent months, Tracy insists she has a "perfect" figure and looks better than American First Lady Michelle Obama.
She added: "Madonna’s body is perfect. She has no fat, no cellulite, she is so toned, and her arms are amazing. Michelle Obama’s arms look beautiful, but I think I could get her into even better shape."
Tracy also trains Madonna’s friend Gwyneth Paltrow and recently praised the actress’ dedication to her exercise regime.
She said: "In the past, she’d had times when she was very, very thin, but never this toned. Her definition is unreal."

When First Lady Michelle Obama sat down for exclusive interview with Women’s Health, she revealed not only why she takes good health (and healthcare) so seriously but also her grounded attitude towards fashion and dieting. “My father had multiple sclerosis, so I never took health for granted, because I saw a father that at the prime of his life was struck with an illness that completely changed his life,” the First Lady reveals. But she recounts happy childhood memories with rare and fun nights eating out with her family. “We couldn’t afford to go out to dinner, so [it] was a rare treat. We would have a theater class on Saturdays, and [afterward] if Dad turned left we were going to McDonald’s, and if he turned right we were going home, and we’d always go, “Go left, Dad! Go left!” The few times he went left, it was like Christmas!” Michelle also sees the value of eating pizza and ice cream more rarely due to economic need. “Those values — even though they were the result of economic circumstances — were really good, and they created some pretty healthy boundaries about food.” Not that she doesn’t love the occasional diet-breaker. “I do love a good burger and fries. French fries are my favorite food in the whole world. If I could, I’d eat them at every meal — but I can’t. My whole thing is moderation. If I make good, healthy choices most of the time, then having what I love every once in a while won’t hurt.” And she values the importance of eating together as a family, even at the White House.
Mrs. Obama explains, “Dad’s office is just downstairs, and it’s rare that we don’t have dinner together. No matter what’s going on, he sets aside that time. Dinner time is at 6:30 p.m., and he comes in, we sit down.” That’s not the only way the First Lady works to feel good. She says of her famous fashion choices, “For me fashion is fun, and it’s supposed to help you feel good about yourself. I think that’s what all women should focus on: what makes them happy and feel comfortable and beautiful. I wear what I love. Sometimes people like it, sometimes they don’t. I’m fine with that.” Read more from the First Lady, including tips on her workout from her trainer, in this month’s issue of Women’s Health. Source : People

Michelle Obama, known for taking fashion risks, took another risk wearing shorts, unbuttoned blouse, white tank top and tennis shoes, all paired with her bright lavender Toy Watch. These shorts, much more casual than her normal sun dresses and belted cardigans, showed off quite a bit of leg. This casual look, similar to how the first daughters were dressed, is quite a change from the typical, always elegant pieces most first ladies of the past have chosen to wear on vacations.

Back from her tour of Western Europe, Michelle Obama took the family dog for a walk.
In the first picture she looked elegant and stylist but in the other picture she shows as though she has no sense of style, no taste for fashion. Look at her gold colored shorts…I am sure if she wears a stylish shorts there would not be much flack. Michelle Obama should seriously hire a full time fashion designer at least until she is out of White house.
President Obama proved his title of being named to the best-dressed list, looking prestigious and presidential in his white polo and slacks while touring the canyon. But was Michelle dressed appropriately as a first lady? What do you think?
